Society of St. Vincent de Paul
" TO SERVE THE POOR IS TO GO TO GOD..."
St. Gabriel Conference:
We are one of 13 conferences within the Halton area, including Burlington, Milton and Oakville Catholic parishes. We assist those living within our parish boundaries who have financial or other needs.
What we do:
Home visits are an integral part of SSVP and are intended to help a neighbour in need get through a particular difficulty by providing them with short term emergency relief. An assessment is done to get a picture of how someone lives and to ask them how we can help them. This is often in the form of:
• Food or clothing
• Food gift cards to local grocery stores
• Personal or household supplies
• Referrals to community resources that can meet their needs
After a number of visits during which we have connected the neighbour in need with local service agencies, the focus then turns to how we can help the client help themselves by finding sustainable solutions to improve their financial well-being.
How can you help as one of our parishioners?
Fellow parishioners can support our efforts by:
•Making tax deductible donations in the monthly blue collection envelopes. If donations are being made by cheque, they must be written out to SOCIETY OF SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL rather than St Gabriel’s Church as we are two separate entities for donation/income tax purposes. •Donations can also be made on-line through the SSVP Halton Particular Website at http://www.ssvphaltonpc.org/Donate.htm There is a red DONATE link at the top of the screen. Select St Gabriel’s church from the drop-down menu so that donations can be directed to St. Gabriel’s SSVP in Burlington. Payments can be made by credit card or PayPal. •Participating in our Christmas Angel Tree program by making a donation as described above or by contacting us at 905-570-6320 or email@example.com
How can I become a member of this ministry?
